The Knight

The knight has the symbol of a horses head. It moves in an L-shaped pattern. On the board, the knight can move one square up or down and two squares left or right or one square left or right and two squares up and down. Owww...sounds pretty complicated huh. Also, the knight is the only piece in chess that can move over other pieces. The knight is the most versatile piece in chess (in my opinion), and in the hands of a master can perform hundreds of amazing tricks.

Try it out! Using the chess applet, switch to setup mode and clear the board. Choose a knight from the piece selection menu and place it on the board. Now switch back to play mode. Move the knight around the squares of the board and notice the L-shape its moves form.
